A handsome vintage quilt from Pakistan /India borders. Typical geometric Ajarak Barmer block print in madder, Indigo, black and white .Multi colour thread used for the handquilting, often used in quilts from Pakistan .
I always buy these if I see them but because they are old they can sometimes be worse for wear ! This one is in very good condition. Using a technique called Ajarak which is a complicated process of block printing with vegtable dyes and mordants but results in rich hues of browns, reds,and indigo. It is then hand stitched together with multiple layers to make a robust quilt.
