Sue has collected glass paintings for many years. These ones are from Rajasthan in India. Painted in the last 30 years. They are made in a traditional reverse glass painting process, an art form consisting of applying paint directly to the back of the glass. They frequently depict the local and popular Maharajas and Maharanis of Rajasthan .
Illustrating their elaborate jewels, textiles and turbans using gold leaf !They are simple portraits charming in their naivety and would have been produced for the local market.
